Well, its early 2024 and I've started afresh to revisit something new. A new life, new beginnings, and a blank slate. I've started making an 8K immersive video installation (and soon to be paintings) titled 'Drowning at Midnight' on the theme of maritime contagion inspired by a trip to the Quarantine Station in Portsea, Victoria (thank you Andy for taking me x). The finished work is screening in Venice later this year but also a sub-set will examine local stories from the Port Phillip Bay region as part of a pending AIR application that I'm sending to the Police Point residency program. This rich and cruel history of maritime contagion is seldom recognised in art so I thought I'd explore it to tie in with my wider ongoing interest about art and plague.
